Terms of Use and Services Agreement

Welcome to Steam School! Before we get started we have some legal information to share with and ask that you agree to you to our “Terms of Business” and ‘Data Processing Agreement’.

Please read this agreement, it is a blueprint for how the programme works, what you can expect from Steam School and what we expect from you as members.

Please note that Steam School  is owned in its entirety by Steam School Ltd.

1.0. Overview of Service

1.1.  The Steam School platform combines STEAM powered project based learning with weekly broadcasts from global STEAM experts. Below is an overview of what is included: 

STEAM MISSIONS
Steam School hosts 6 missions every academic year exploring some of the world’s most pressing issues, showcasing #STEAM4good projects, futuristic technology and young inspirational role models. Each mission takes place over a 5 /6 week period. 

WEEKLY LIVE BROADCASTS
During each mission, we host a weekly live broadcast with a global STEAM expert sharing a behind the scenes look at their projects, challenges, successes and career journeys. Students can watch LIVE or on demand. 

STUDENT PLATFORM
The Steam School platform equips learners with a personal login, enabling them to access the programme independently and capture their learning.

STEAM POWERED CHALLENGES
Students can journey through each mission by completing STEAM powered challenges as scientists, engineers, entrepreneurs, artists, digital makers and campaigners.

TEACHER DASHBOARD
Teachers have access to a dashboard to monitor student engagement and celebrate student achievement.

1.2. An ‘annual’ subscription refers to 365 day subscription.

1.3. Steam School reserves the right to change the advertised guest up until the time of the scheduled broadcast.

1.4. Steam School may change the regular LIVE broadcast timeslot (Thursday 2pm GMT /BST) to accommodate guests In different timezones.

 

 2.0. Payment Terms

2.1. There are two membership packages available: An annual subscription for schools and a rolling monthly subscription for parents.

2.2. The cost of your subscription is as set out on the order form. You may make payment via the methods that are specified on the order form. Where the payments are stated on the order form to be made in instalments or are recurring payments, you agree that we may take these payments automatically without any further consent or notice from you. A login to the platform will be issued once your payment is proceed. 

2.3. Monthly fees and annual payments are non refundable.

2.4. Steam School Ltd reserves the right to terminate membership of anyone who behaves in a rude, unpleasant or unsupportive manner.

2.5. Anyone found to be doing something uncool, like sharing logins with organisations and people who have not signed up to the club will have their membership terminated. Legal action may be taken. 

2.6. Family subscriptions are for families only. If you are found to be using our content in an informal or formal education setting you will be billed for a school license. Legal action may be taken. 

 

3.0. Intellectual Property

3.1. Steam School Ltd is owner or the licensee of all Intellectual Property Rights and all other rights in the materials provided to you by us as part of the Membership (“Materials”) and all content within the Programme and nothing in these Terms or otherwise shall operate to transfer the ownership of the Intellectual Property Rights in the Materials or the content of the Programme to you or to any other person.

3.2. You may not at any time copy, reproduce, publish in any form, share, sell, dispose of or otherwise make available to a third party in any way any of the Materials.

3.3. We grant to you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sub licensable, revocable licence to use all or any of the Materials for the purposes for which the Membership was provided only.

3.4. Except as set out in paragraph 3.2. you may not use any of our intellectual property rights at any time except where duly licensed. Use of our logo is strictly prohibited without our prior written consent.

3.5. You may not without our prior written consent make any audio or visual recordings of any part of our materials.

3.6. We may from time to time record any or all or any part of the materials being delivered during your attendance.  You authorise us to use your image and voice in any such recordings (and to make use of such recording in any way we think fit) without payment, other condition or need for further consent.

3.7. You acknowledge that certain information contained in the materials is already in the public domain.

 

4.0. Legal Stuff

4.1. By purchasing a subscription you warrant that: You are legally capable of entering into binding contracts; you are at least 18 years old; and that all information you provide us with is materially true and accurate at all times and not misleading in any way.

4.2. You also agree that Steam School Ltd as the owner and operator of Steam School reserve the right to revoke membership and accompanying benefits at any time for any reason we deem just.

4.3. Also, by agreeing to these terms, you agree that we can’t be liable to you, or any third party, for damages, including lost profits, lost savings, complaints, claims, litigation or other incidental, consequential or special damages which arise regarding this agreement.
